Hello.

I'm an SSBM player from Orlando, Florida, USA and I'll be moving to either of the aforementioned regions sometime this year. I was hoping to get some information about both areas. I also was unsure where exactly to post this.

I was born in Petrozavodsk, but when I was 3 I moved to New York, USA. I briefly lived in Vladivostok during 2010 for half a year

I also dabble in AE and Injustice, but SSBM is my primary game.

Мой русский приличный, но я понимаю больше, чем я говорю.

Спасибо за ваше внимание к моему тема.

Hi there! )

Unfortunately, you'll be hard pressed to find a competitive SSBM player here in Russia - I don't recall any Russian city having SSB tournaments... like ever.

There might be some SF/Inj players, though, so let's hope they will post here. Still, I know there are some players in adjacent regions (St. Petersburg, Cherepovets, Arkhangelsk even), so hopefully you wiil be able to arrange something with them.

Good Luck )

Assuming that they don't speak English, can you direct me to the best places for me to post?

Is the lack of Melee in Russia due to Nintendo's failed presence there?

Well, these forums are set up using game-based structure. So if one looks for SF players, one creates topic in "Практика Street Fighter" subforum; for Injustice opponents one posts in "Практика Injustice" subforum; and so forth.

As for SSB presence - well, I guess there were multiple factors involved. The important one was that in early 00-s PS2 was _dominant_ at Russian videogame "market" (mostly due to modding potential, but that's whole different story). So Russian console market leans towards Sony heavily ever since, and that is doubly true for most competitive players. Nintendo officially has been at Russian market for a while, but they have been campaigning towards casual audience, and that doesn't help either, since casual gaming in Russia is very small even compared to console gaming (which is small compared to PC gaming, etc.)

So what should I do about finding Melee players in Russia? =[

Or, at the very least, finding people interested in Melee.

Well, you can definitely post at our forums here: Сообщества по остальным файтингам, no harm done.

Other than that... Well, you might googling up something like 'super smash турниры' или 'super smash форум', but other than few promotional events ran by previous Nintendo distributor, Noviy Disk, there simply weren't any =\ Maybe you'll find some Nintendo fansite with a forum (I know we have some Sonic community, so maybe there are others, dunno). Still not sure is they will play SSB competitively, but that could be a start at least...

Im living pretty far from Karelia but i have a good connection with that region. Add me in friendlist (XBL or PSN under my avatar) and i`ll play Injustice with you ^^

Hi, Eikelmann. Although other guys already told that, I'd like to ensure you, that we don't have any formed fighting community in Karelia at all. I'm from Petrozavodsk myself, and because I'm interested in fightings I watch for information about tournaments and so on. We don't have any serious events even on Tekken and other popular fightings, all of them are like homefights or little tournaments organised by PetrSU (out university). I haven't really heard about any SSBM event of any type like ever.

Sorry for my poor English 3:
